About Us

Celebrating our 40th Year

Mission Statement

Over 40 years ago, Traffic Safety & Equipment Co., Inc. started with a single employee and a single purpose. Founder Angus G. Simpson wanted to provide clients with quality products and services related to his expert knowledge in the snowplow and roadway equipment industry.

40 years, 3 generations, and thousands of satisfied customers later, we have a bit larger staff and a bit broader purpose.

Our business has expanded to include divisions for traffic safety products, signs and graphics and truck accessories. We now offer a myriad of products and services designed to satisfy the ever growing needs of our client base.

Our goal now is to be the premier resource for all sign, safety, and snowplow related needs.

Anyone can be a source.

We want to be your resource.

Sincerely,

Peter Simpson

Our Staff

The MacGyver of Traffic Safety, Bob is also the longest tenured employee having started here in 1987. Bob’s talents are extremely broad. He is proficient in all things mechanical and is responsible for the design and construction of our website. A self taught, self starter, he is our resident plow expert, mechanical guru, and overall Mr. Fixit. If it’s broken and needs to be repaired, Mr. T will diagnose the problem and come up with a solution. You know the problem will be solved when you hear Bob say “I have an idea…”. A true perfectionist, he treats every job as if it was for himself. A job does not just get done, it gets done right. Traffic Safety’s greatest asset is its people and Bob epitomizes why that statement has never been truer.

Our second in command is also second in years of service.  Kevin started with the firm in 1993 and has worked in every facet of the business.  That experience makes him the perfect manager because he has done everything he asks the staff to do.  I’ve never heard Kevin say “that’s not my job”.  In fact it is much more common to find jobs finished without anyone needing to ask anything.  A perfect right hand man, whose integrity, care, and concern for the business are unmatched.  I attribute a great deal of the growth and success of Traffic Safety to the work ethic Kevin possesses.  His energy is infectious, especially after his third cup of coffee with a 20” snow storm looming.

For over a decade Rick has guided Traffic Safety’s sign and graphics department. While Rick’s focus during the work week is on managing the design and production of our custom signs and graphics division, his other passion of tournament bass fishing, occupies his weekends during the warmer months. Rick’s involvement in the sign industry goes back over 30 years and his considerable knowledge is invaluable. Rick was instrumental in persuading Traffic Safety to get more involved in digital sign printing. Our initial purchase of our Gerber Edge and Edge 2 thermal printers ushered in that era. In July of 2008, we installed our new 54” Roland digital printer and plotter and a Daige laminator on Rick’s recommendation. These new pieces of equipment will allow us to produce a wide variety of signs, decals, banners and graphics in stunning color all in house. Stop in and have Rick show you our new capabilities. And if you have a good fish story, make sure you share it with Rick.

“I’ll do anything.” That is Fred’s mantra. He designs and produces signs. He installs and repairs plows. He delivers safety equipment at 6:00 am into NYC. Fred is a come in early and leave late kind of guy and that is why we love him. Secaucus born and bred, Fred is like a walking GPS of this area. He knows every nook and cranny of New Jersey and beyond. If you need a friend to drive to Florida for a “long” weekend, or go 4-wheeling or deep sea fishing, Fred is your guy. Another veteran of the sign industry, Fred’s focus is often on the quick turnaround projects. When we need 20 construction signs by 2 pm on the same day, Fred always rises to the challenge. Fred’s flexibility and willingness to jump from one division of the company to another makes him Traffic Safety’s Renaissance man. So if you have a deadline, get Fred on the line.

Brother to Erazmo, Miguel also originally hails from Peru. Miguel is our assembly ace, as he is responsible for putting together the various components necessary to make up a plow.
When you order an 8’ Pro Plus from Western, Miguel pre-assembles the unit and gets it ready to attach to the truck once all the wiring and framing is complete. Miguel also assists in the sign shop with production, unloads most of our deliveries with the fork lift, and in general handles many of the warehousing issues both inside and outside the building.

Nicole is the friendly voice you speak with when you call Traffic Safety. She is also the smiling face you see at the front desk when you stop in our office. Nicole handles all our accounts receivable and payable, manages our shipping and receiving, directs all requests to the appropriate staff, and quite frankly, makes it a pleasure to be in the office. A mother of two young girls, she balances taking care of all of us in the office, with raising two beautiful young women. Having moved to New Jersey from Arkansas, we hope to keep her here in the garden state for a long time.

Chris is the rookie in the clubhouse and was a graduate of Lincoln Technical Institute right here in Mahwah. Chris was hired for his previous mechanical experience working in the past for Butler Fleet Services and Jack Daniels Motors. His responsibilities their included maintaining and repairing Verizon fleet vehicles ,as well as, Porsche, Audi, and Volkswagen autos. Chris will be working closely with Bob Tucewicz assisting in the installation of snowplows, salt spreaders, and all the various vehicle accessories we sell. Like most of us, he is learning the ropes in the sign department, and is already proficient in production. Welcome aboard Chris, glad to have you with us.

For over 10 years Erasmo has worked during the winter months at Traffic Safety & Equipment Co. Inc. After wrapping up his employment at Ramsey Golf & Country Club usually in late October, Arasmo stays with us until early spring. Erasmo handles many of our plow frame installations, does fluid changes, wiring, hitch installations, and assists in a myriad of work that the winter brings us. We would not be able to provide the time sensitive service we offer during snow events if it were not for Erasmo’s mechanical abilities. Also originally from Peru, Erasmo has a great sense of humor and does a spot on Michael McDonald impersonation. Ask to hear it next time you’re tuning up your snowplow!

I’m the guy who signs the checks and directs the traffic (painful pun intended). Thankfully, with the talented cast of characters I’m blessed to work with my job is the easiest of all. I’m responsible for making sure that the products and services our company provides meet the needs of our clients. So, if you have a need we are not currently providing, please let me know. I’ll do the best I can to satisfy your request. We certainly pride ourselves on being a one stop shop, but sometimes being the best source simply means being the best resource. I invite you to pick our brains personally or send your requests via phone, fax, or e-mail. I’m extremely proud to carry on an over 40 year tradition of service here at Traffic Safety & Equipment Co. Inc., and I welcome the opportunity to earn your business.
